Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Kansas Territory was organized in 1854, from unorganized territory originally part of the Louisiana purchase. In 1861, the eastern part was admitted to the Union as the state of Kansas, and the remaining part of the territory became part of the Colorado Territory.
