Stoughtonham was formed from Stoughton's Second Precinct in 1765. Part was given to Foxborough in 1778. It was renamed Sharon in 1783. Land was acquired from Stoughton in 1789 and again in 1792. Its boundaries with Foxborough were adjusted in 1793. Territory was ceded to Walpole in 1804 and again in 1811. Its boundaries with Foxborough were again changed in 1833. Land was given to Foxborough in 1833. An area was gotten from Stoughton in 1864. Part was given to Walpole in 1874. Its boundaries with Canton were changed in 1899.
