Luke S. Whitney, probably the unidentified son of Jacob6 and Minerva (Gillette) Whitney, was born circa 1824, NY, and died 8 Jun 1864, Louisville, KY.
He married circa 1845, probably Litchfield, MI, Juliett Dunshee, daughter of Amos and Phebe (------) Dunshee. She was born 6 Aug 1829, NY, and died 1 Aug 1911, Defiance, OH. She married secondly 20 Nov 1864, Defiance Co., OH, John J. Finn.
Luke enlisted as a Private in Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment Ohio at the age of 40 years. He died of disease at Louisville, KY and is buried in Cave Hill National Cemetery.
