Richard Chaundler, Esq. of Cams (Robert, Richard, Elizabeth Robage, Anne Whitney, Robert, Robert [perhaps] Robert, Eustace, Robert, Robert, Robert, Eustace, Eustace, Robert, ...), son of Robert Chaundler, was born 1650, and died 1729.

He married firstly, 23 Feb 1669, Trinity College Chapel, Oxford, Oxfordshire, Mary Palmer, daughter of Dr John and Mary (Tristram) Palmer alias Vaulx. Her mother was daughter and heir of John Tristram, Esq. of Bampton in Devonshire, Counsellor at Law and Mary Ley, daughter of James Ley, 1st Earl of Marlborough.

He married secondly, Mrs. Catherine (Stanyon) Curle, the widow of William Curle, only son of Dr. Walter Curle, Bishop of Winchester.

Richard Chaundler was appointed High Sheriff of Wiltshire in November 1686. He purchased an estate and settled in Hampshire around 1700 and was elected M.P. for Hampshire 16 May 1705. Richard Chaundler, Esq. chosen as Knight, Hampshire.

The transcription of the Will of Richard Chaundler, Esq. by Adrian Benjamin Burke, Esq.:

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Chaundler of Cams in the parish of Fareham in the County of Southampton, Esquire do revoke all former Wills by __ made and do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in ____ following ___ I have surrendered my several copyholds & lands _______ and other heridaments in the parish of Fareham Porthhoster and Trtohfoils or in some or other of them in the said country of Southampton into the lands of the several Lords of the several Manors in which the same are respectively lying and being to the use of my Last Will and Testament and __ seized in fee seimple in the messuage or tenement where in I now dwell with the appurtenances at Cams aforesaid and in several Lands, Tenements and ___ ___ at Cams and Camswood in the parishes aforesaid in some or all of them which freehold and copyhold…heriditaments and ___ I purchased ___ intermarriage with my now Wife and I being satisfied that it is ___ I desire of my said Wife to reside and dwell in the said ___ or tenement ___ her life and that it will be preferable to her to have __ estate for her life __ in Lands tenements and herediments in the parishes aforesaid of the yearly value with the lands tenements…and heridaments in the parish of ___ in the County of __ which are freehold and the __ and __- of __ have aforesaid the portion of Eyths of Chelsingbury…Herideitaments therto belonging (which are ___ wherein the many __ an estate and __ for her life after my decease by viture of her several ___ thereof respectively made by me permitted to our intermarriage which Settlements are both dated on or about the Third and fortieth day of Cotbor in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred settled than to have __ Estate and interest as aforesaid in the said settled premises I do by this my Last Will and Testament give and devise the said __ or herdiment wherein I dwell and all my __ and copyhold Lands Tenements and heridaments at Cams and Camswood aforesaid and __ in the County of Southampton in which are of a greater yearly value than the said settled premises in the said County of Wiltshire in ___ an __ following that is to my __ Catherine my said Wife for an __ the term of her natural life subject ___ to all provisions or ___ here in after ___ ___ __ ___ assigning and __ her said estate and interest in the said premises in the said county of Wiltshire and from and after the death of my said wife or __ ___ __ ___ of her estate __ this to my Grand Son Richard Champneys for and during the time of his natural life ___ ___ of ___ and after the determination of that ___ then to Charles Traffles of the City of Winchester, Gentleman and his heirs during the life of the said Richard Champneys upon ___ to preserve the __ ___ her in after ___ from going destroyed and for that purpose to make ___ and bring actions __ case shall require but ___ in trust to permit and . - ___ the said Richard Champneys to ___ and take the terms and profits thereof during his life and from and after the death of the said Richard Champneys this to the __ __ of the Body of the said Richard Champneys lawfully offspring and for default of __ ___ ___. ___ of his Body of the said Richard Champneys lawfully to be begotten severally ___ and in ____ __ after another as they ___ be in ___ of __ and priority of Birth and to the __ __ of their ____ _____ body being always preferred __ before the younger of such sons and the __ made of ____ and ___ Body and Bodys __ in default of such sons in __ my said Grand Son Richard Champneys shall ___ ____ __ a wife with ___ their to the said Charles Traffles and his heirs until such time shall dye or be __ of a Child or Children which shall first happen and if such a time born Children shall be a son or sons then to the same after __ son and afterborn sons successively as they shall be in priority of birth and to the hers male of his and their Body and Bodies offspring the older of such after born sons and the hers male of his Body being preferred before the younger of them and the heirs male of his body and in default of such __ then to my Grand Son John Champneys for and during the time of his natural life without Impeachment of __ and from and after the determination of that Estate than to the said Charles Traffles and his __ during the life of the said John Champneys upon Trust to preserve the contingent remainders herein after limited from being destroyed and for that purpose to make __ and bring actions as the case shall require but ___ for Trust to permit and suffer the said John Champneys to revive and take the __ and profits there of during his lift and from and after the death of the said John Champneys then to the first son of the Body of the said John Champneys lawfully to be begotten and to the heirs male of his Body lawfully issuing and for default of __ ___ their to the __ Third __ and all every other son did Sons of the Body of the said John…Champneys lawfully to be begotten as they shall be in seniority of __ and priority of Birth and to the heirs male of their several and __ Bodies issuing __ of such __ and the Heirs male of his Body being always preferred to __ before the younger of such sons and the __ made of his and their body and Bodyes issuing and in default of such issue in race my said grand Son John Champneys shall happen to __ leaving a wife with Child __ to the said Charles Traffles and his Heirs until such Wife shall dye or be delivered of a Child or Children which shall first happen and if such after born Child or Children shall be a Son or Sons then to the same after born Son and after born Sons successively as they shall be in priority of Birth and to the Heirs made of his and their Body and Bodys issuing the older of such after born Sons and the Heirs make of his Body being preferred before the younger of them and the Heirs male of his Boyd and in default of ___ then to my Grand Son Richard Chaundler Young for and during the __ of his natural life without Impeachment of __ and after the determination of that Estate then to the said Charles Traffles and his heirs during the life of the said Richard Chaundler Young upon first to reserved the contingent remainder __ after there to from being destroyed and for that purpose to make __ and being Actions as the case shall require but nevertheless in trust to permit and suffer the said Richard Chaundler Young to the first Son of the Boyd of the said Richard Chaundler Young lawfully be begotten and to the heirs male of his Body lawfully__ and for default of __ then to the second third fourth and all and every other son and sons of the Body of the said Richard Chaundler Young lawfully to be begotten severally successively and in _____ one after another as they shall be in seniority __ age and priority of Birth and to the Heirs male of their __ and ___ Body issuing the elder of such sons and the sons were of his Body being always preferred to take before the younger of such sons and the heirs male of his and their body said Bodys and in default of such issue in case my said Grand Son Richard Chaundler Young shall happen to dye leaving a wife with Children to the said Charles and his heirs with such wife shall dye or be delivered of a Child or Children. Which shall first happen and if such after born Child or Children shall be a Son or Sons there to the same after bound Son and after born Sons successively as they shall be a priority of birth and to the heirs male of his and their Body and Bodies issuing __ of such after born Sons and the Heirs male of his body __ preferred before the younger __ and the Heirs made of the Body and in default of such issue then to my own Right heirs for ever provided always and my Will and remainder is _ the said __ Devise or ___ to my said Wife of the __ premises in the said County of Southampton for her life upon condition that if my said Wife shall not within the Space of three calendar months after my decease by such good ___ ___ as ___ in the __ shall reasonable __ the same to be made at the costs and charges of my Grand Son John Champneys younger Son of my Daughter. __ Champneys __ and my Grand Daughter Joanna Maria Champneys Daughter of the said Elizabeth Champneys and heirs executors or administrators release assign and __ all her Estate Right Title Internert Claims and ___ in Law and Equity by virtue of the said Settlements or other of them or to ther __ whatsoever of in into or out of the said __ and Leasehold Herediments and premises in the said Country of Wiltshire unto John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys their Heirs Executors and Administrators respectively __ not after the making such ___ and ___ or __ to be delivered the same conveyances and - __ and also such settlements __ and ____ to the same hereditaments sand premises as shall be in ___ the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys their Heirs Executors or administrators either before __ shall be thereof made or within three days __ __ of their shall be made by them or any of their __ not ___ and suffer my said grand Son and __ John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys ___ heirs Executors and profits of the said herediments and __ in the said Country of Wiltshire which shall ___ __ ___ there and in any or __ of the same Case ___ reason of any willful right ___ default or ___ of or by my said wife the __ Estate for her life ___ devise or ___ in the said premises in the said County of Southampton shall __ and be void as if she was dead without prejudice never there after to any of their of the Estates herein before __ devised or limited in the same premises and as to the same Ladns Tenements and Heridements in the said parish of …..____ being freehold and the said ___ and parsonage of Winterhaven aforesaid the said portion of Tythes in Chitingbury and hereidaments being leashold wherein such Estaet and interest as may be retained by my Wife as aforesaid will I am assured soon after my decease be released assigned and conveyed __ to the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys their heirs Executors and administrators respectively I give and devise the same freehold Lands Tenements and Heradiments all other my freeholds Lands Tenements and Heridements if any in the said County of Wilts and tall my estate right Tith and internert therein unto and be the use of the sadi John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys their Heirs and assigns forever subject ___ to and charged with the annuity or yearly sum of twenty pounds herein after __ and I hive and devise the said __ and paronage portion of Tuthes and Heridaments being leaseholds and all other my leaseholds lands Tenements and heredaments if any in the said County of Wilts and all my Estate Right terms and interest tenements unto the sadi John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys __ Executors administrators and assigns item I give unto my Grand Son Chandler Rawligh for an __ the __ of his natural life __ an annuity or yearly sum of twenty pounds to be issuing and going out of the said after __ lands tenements and herideaments to the said County of Wilts __ before given and devised to the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys and their heirs and to be payed unto him hast yearly that is to say at Michaelmas Day and Lady Day XX yearly by two equal half yearly payments the first half yearly payment thereof to be made on at __ of the same days as shall next happen after the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys or __ of there shall be __ __ of or __ to the profession of the same Lands Tenements and Heredaments and __ in __ the said Annuity or yearly Sum of Twenty pounds or any __ thereof shall be in __ and __ for the __ of our and twenty days next after either of the said days whereon __ __ ought to be paid as aforesaid those and in __ case __ __ happening I will that my said Grand Son Chaundler Rawlrigh shall and may lawfully ___ and upon the said premises __ with the said annuity or any part or parts thereof and make any __ or __ for much or so much of the said Annuity as shall be in __ as aforesaid and shall and may retain and keep such __ or __ until full payment of all Charges of the said Annuity and of all Costs Charges and Expenses to be __ __ or ___ any such discharge or __ Item I give unto my said Wife all such __ Goods and furniture in or belonging to my __ at Cams aforesaid as my said Wife shall think __ to have and retain for her _ Item I will and desire that within the Spare of __ I __ __ after death __ my __ and dead __ in upon or __ before giving to my said Lands and Herediaments of Cams and Camswood aforesaid and __ in the said County of Southampton other than the __ such Goods and furniture as are before given to my said ___ ___ or __ by __ persons to be indiffernelty chosen by my said Wife and this said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys and that my said Wife __ to __ __ shall satisfy the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys for that said __ or in default there of the same shall be and remain the proper goods and charities of the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys Item I give to the poor people of the said parish of Fareham as my Executors shall think to be the greatest objects of Charity the sum of five pounds and also to __ of the poor people of that part of the parish of ___ in the said County of Wilts – which is ____ ___ as my Executors shall think to be the greatest objects of Charity the like Sum of five pounds and also to such poor people of the parish of Southampton as my Executors shall think to be the greatest objects of Charity the like sum of five pounds also I will that the said __ several sums of five pounds five pounds and five pounds shall go distributed amongst such poor people as aforesaid in such parks and properties as my Executors shall think fit or direct Item all the List of my Goods Chattels and personal __ whatsoever I give and bequeath to the said John Champneys and Joanna Maria Champneys whom I do __ constitute and appoint joint executors of this my last will and testament and I charge and require my said executors to pay __ such debts as I shall owe at the time of my death and I do hereby appoint my said Wife and the said Charles Traffles overseers of this my Will and I do give and devise to the said Charles Traffles the sum of twenty pounds to buy Mouringing __ my I will is that my Body be __ buried in
