William9 (Whitney) Cowan (James Lewis8, Abraham Johnson7, James6, Samuel5, Samuel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), born Caton, New York, Sept 17, 1853; married at Painted Post, New York, 26 Jul 1870, Priscilla Emeline Mead; born Caroline, New York, May 1853. He was adopted by his aunt Mrs. Cowan, and his name changed from Whitney to Cowan; res Gibson, New York.
Children of William9 (Whitney) and Priscilla Emeline (Mead) Cowan:
i. Frank Le Roy Cowan, born 25 Apr 1872 ii. Edith Maria Cowan, b 26 Mar 1875.
