Capt. Abraham6 Whitney (Abraham5, Abraham4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Abraham5 and Marcy (Perry) Whitney,[1] was born 3 Jan 1754, Stow, MA;[2] died 21 May 1813, Waterford, ME, aged 59 years.[3]

He married firstly, 10 May 1780, Stow, MA, Mehitable "Hitty" Ware,[4] daughter of Josiah and Mehitable (Parker) Ware.[5] She was born 31 Aug 1758, Needham, MA;[6] died 25 Sep 1793, Stow, MA. [7]

He married secondly, 25 Mar 1794, Stow, MA, Sarah (Whitman) Wetherbee,[8] daughter of Zachariah and Elizabeth (Gates) Whitman.[9] She was born 4 May 1761, Stow, MA;[10] died 29 Mar 1795, Stow, MA.[11] She had married firstly, 15 Nov 1780, Stow, MA, Jonathan Wetherbee, q.v.[12]

He married thridly, 13 Nov 1796, Stow, MA, Catherine Wood,[13] daughter of Jonathan and Katherine (Gardner) Wood.[14] She was born 22 Oct 1766, Stow, MA;[15] died 7 or 17 Apr 1802, Stow, MA.[16]

He married fourthly, 6 Feb 1803, Waterford, ME, Mrs. Sarah (Conant) Jewell "of Waterford",[17] daughter of Peter and Sarah (Gibson) Conant.[18] She was born 13 Dec 1762, Stow, MA;[19] died 21 Jan 1855, Waterford, ME.[20] She had married firstly, 6 May 1780, Stow, MA, Ezra Jewell (1752-1795).[21]

Capt. Abraham Whitney was a native of Stow, MA, and resided there until 1805, when he moved to Waterford, ME. At one time he was high sheriff of Middlesex County. On settling in Maine he erected a grist mill in 1810, and that year was elected one of the selectmen of W. He was in the Revolutionary army, probably in the company from Bolton, 10 Apr 1818; he was granted a pension from Kennebec County, ME, when 76 years of age. He resided Stow, MA, and Waterford, ME.

vi. John Whitney, b. 14 Oct 1792, Stow, MA.[33] Guardian bond, 9 Mar 1802. Abraham Whitney, gent., with Ezekiel Gates, blacksmith, and Ichabod Stow, yeomen, as sureties, all of Stow, was appointed guardian of Lucy Whitney and John Whitney, both under 14, children of Abraham and wife Hitty, daughter of Josiah Weare.[34]
