Alice Whitney

Albertus L.9 Whitney (Lyman8, Christopher7, Christopher6, William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Lyman8 and Elizabeth (Weatherby) Whitney, was born 1 Aug 1829, Hinsdale, NY, and died after 1880.

He married, 22 Feb 1863, St. Paul, MN, Cornelia L. Tozer. She was born 20 Oct 1835, Farmersville, NY, and died after 1880.

Albertus L. Whitney was with his father from 1829 to 1850; then he went to Kentucky and taught one year. From there went to Wisconsin and taught; in 1856 went to St. Anthony Falls and taught. From 1858 to 1863 was in employ of U. S. in postal service; 22 Feb 1863, was married in St. Paul, MN, to C. L. Tozer, then went to Jeffersonville, IN, and for three years was railway ticket agent. From there went to Minneapolis, MN, and was again an employe in the Minneapolis post-office as assistant postmaster and superintendent of carriers. In 1875 he went to Los Angeles, where he has since made his home. For five years he was connected with the post-office department, and later was deputy county assessor and cashier for the county tax collector; resided Los Angeles, CA.

Children of Albertus L.9 and Cornelia L. (Tozer) Whitney:

i. Frank A.10 Whitney, b. 31 Jul 1865; d. 21 Jun 1867.
ii. Alice D. Whitney, b. 14 May 1868, MN, resided at home. She obtained a passport 8 Aug 1924 at which time she resided Monrovia, CA, had never been married, was the daughter of Albertus Whitney of NY, deceased, and was traveling to the British Isles, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Her last passport had been an emergency passport obtained 1914 in Breslau.[1]
iii. Paris Gibson Whitney, b. 27 Aug 1870; d. 17 Mar 1874.

Louisa and Alice were Whitneys, not Mansons, and Louisa was no doubt identical to Cornelia L. (Tozier) Whitney.
