iv. Leander Morse, b. 4 Mar 1836, Marlborough, MA.[7]
v. Mary Ann Morse, b. 27 Mar 1837, Marlborough, MA.[8]

Notes

The fact that she named a son "Leonard Whitney Morse" suggests that she may have had a close relative named Leonard Whitney. Two candidates present themselves:

  1. Leonard7 Whitney, who m.(1) Cate Wheeler and (2) Polly Elliot. His children are incompletely known, but they include a daughter born 1800-1810, who could be Almira.
  2. Leonard7 Whitney, who had a sister "Elmira", b. 9 May 1807, Grafton, VT, who could be Almira.

According to the death record of her son Leander, she was born in New Hampshire. That favors the former candidate, who lived in New Hampshire. The 1880 census records for three of the children in this family all say that their mother was born in Massachusetts, which argues against both of the above.
