Benjamin Nichols8 Whitney (Oliver7, Joshua6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Oliver7 and Rebecca (Nichols) Whitney, was born 1815, Rochester, VT, died 27 Sep 1903, Rochester, VT (according to his gravestone), and was buried in the Bingo Cemetery (or West Branch Cemetery), Rochester VT.

He married, 21 May 1840, Lovina R. Lowell. She was born 13 Nov 1822, and died after 1880, and was buried Bingo Cemetery (or West Branch Cemetery), Rochester VT.

He has been a farmer all his life, is a good Republican, hard worker, honest, and is respected by everybody; resided Rochester, VT.

Children of Benjamin Nichols8 and Lovina R. (Lowell) Whitney:

i. Martin Dunster9 Whitney, b. 25 May 1841; m. Ora A. Shultz.
ii. Varnum Bruce Whitney, b. 11 Sep 1844. He was orderly sergeant of the First Vermont Heavy Artillery, and promoted for bravery at Petersburg. Was taken prisoner at Weldon Gap and d. Florence, SC.
iii. Julius Lowell Whitney, b. 26 Oct 1847; m. Lucy Austin.
iv. Herbert E. Whitney, b. 6 Nov 1850; m. Mary Traffarn.
v. Alice Jane Whitney, b. 13 Jun 1856; m. 1878, Hiram Bliss Morgan; resided W. Chesterfield, NH.
Ch.: Mary and Herbert, who d. in infancy.
