He married, 20 Jun 1871, Almatia Lane, daughter of Lewis W. and Clara (Lancaster) Lane of Lincoln, ME. She was born 28 Mar 1848, ME, and died 19 Mar 1912, Enfield, ME (recorded in Burlington, ME). They were divorced in 1890, Lee, ME. She, as "Almacia Lane", married secondly, 8 Jun 1891, Lee, ME, Samuel Lsgrove Tobin. He died 3 Jul 1902, Lee, ME.
In the 1880 Census of Lincoln, Penobscot Co., ME, Almasha and sons Charles and William are living with her parents, Lewis and Clara Lane.

William Whitney, b. 23 Sep 1875, ME; d. 1940, ME; m. 20 Dec 1908, Chester, ME, Elsie Kimball. iii. (son) Whitney, b. ca. May 1880, ME; d. bef. 1900.
