Calvin M.8 Whitney (Darius F.7, Abraham6, Richard5, Israel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of Darius F.7 and Loanna (Cook) Whitney, was born 2 Feb 1842, PA, and died 20 Nov 1917, Grand Rapids, MI.[1][2]
He married firstly circa 1867, Clinton Co., MI, Cynthia Huyck, daughter of Henry and Polly (Bennet) Huyck. She was born 11 Jun 1844, NY, and died 17 Jul 1871, Sciota, MI.[3]
He married secondly circa 1874, MI, Mary E. Esty, daughter of Jacob and Mary J. (------) Esty. She was born Nov 1846, Ingham Co., MI, and died 4 Jul 1932, Grand Rapids, MI.[4]
Calvin enlisted Co. I, 22nd Michigan Infantry Regiment on 13 Aug 1862. Wounded in right chest in line of duty, Aug 1863. Promoted to Full Corporal on 1 Feb 1865. Mustered out on 26 Jun 1865.
On 2 May 1877, Calvin Whitney applied for an invalied pension for service in Co. I, 22nd Michigan Infantry, Application #235,297, Certificate #154,529. On 22 Nov 1917, his widow Mary E. Whitney, from Michigan, applied for a widow's pension for that service, Application #1,110,766, Certificate #851,674.
