Charles⁸ Whitney (Joshua⁷, Joshua⁶, Thomas⁵, William⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Joshua⁷ and Rhoda (Jewell) Whitney, was born 21 Apr 1815, Binghamton, NY, and died after 1880, Binghamton, NY.

He married, before 1829, Emily Clark. She was born about 1816, NS, and died after 1880.

i.	Mary L.9 Whitney, b. ca. Oct 1855, MA; said d. 1885; said m. ----- Lawrence. She appears in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census in Conklin, NY. In 1900, she is reported as divorced, but in 1910 and 1920, as a widow.
ii.	Jennie Olive Whitney, b. ca. 1857, NY; d. 1939, Binghamton, NY; unmarried; patient in the Binghamton State Hospital in 1900 through 1930, and also listed with her sister Mary in 1910 and 1920 in Conklin, NY.
