Charles Baker8 Whitney (Richard7, Timothy6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Richard7 and Clarissa (Tower) Whitney, was born 6 Oct 1827, Lanesborough, MA, and died 13 Apr 1872, Dorchester, MA.

He married firstly, Mar 1854, Albany, NY, Laura L. Sherman. She was born Mar 1828, and died 16 Jul 1865.

He married secondly, 5 Jun 1867, Dorchester, MA, Abbie Glover Pope. She was born 1 Oct 1840.

He was born in Lanesborough, on the old Whitney place, where he resided for many years. For a long time he was manager of the Briggs iron works there, until his removal to Dorchester, MA, where he passed the remainder of his life. He resided Lanesborough, Massachusetts.
