Charles Joseph9 Whitney (Charles8, Silas7, Silas6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Charles8 and Lydia Maria (Emery) Whitney, was born 15 May 1843, Boston, MA, and died 22 Jun 1893, Boston, MA, aged 50 years 1 months 7 days, of pyelitis and cerebral paralysis.[1]

He married firstly, 8 Nov 1866, Boston, MA, Mary Elizabeth Dunbar, daughter of Calvin C. and Mary (-----) Dunbar.[2] She was born about 11 Apr 1843, Boston or Roxbury, MA, and died 27 Oct 1874, Boston, MA, aged 31 years 6 months 16 days, of phthisis.[3]

He married secondly, 12 Sep 1885, Boston, MA, Helen E. Fuller, daughter of Charles U. and Sarah E. (-----) Fuller.[4] She was born 7 Oct 1858, Boston, MA.

She resided 1 Waterford St., Boston. He was foreman of the Vienna Pressed Yeast County. He resided Boston, MA, 8 Codman Park, Roxbury. Also 10 or 60 Shawmut Place, Boston. In 1867 he was a clerk living at 8 Oswego St., Boston, MA.

Edith Lillian Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1871, Boston, MA;[7] m.(1) 12 Oct 1898, Winthrop, MA, John Dale, b. ca. 1851, Denney, Scotland, son of John and Ann (Neil) Dale;[8] m.(2) 6 or 7 Jun 1906, Winthrop, MA [also recorded in Pittsfield, MA], John Christ Dorey, b. ca. 1870, Old Town, ME, son of William and Mary (Byers) Dorey.[9]
iv. Alice Whitney, b. 2 Aug 1874, Boston, MA;[10] d. 15 Apr 1874, Boston, MA, aged 3 months 14 days, of whooping cough.[11]
