Charles Mayo Whitney (Jacob, (prob.) Jabez6, Jacob5, Jonas4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Jacob and Sally (Pratt) Whitney, was born 23 Oct 1833, Wayland, MA,[1] and died 17 Mar 1900, Vancouver, BC.[2]

He married, 1859 or 1860 Laura Acenath Maxfield.[3][4] She was born 16 Sep 1836, Chester, VT,[5] and died 22 Dec 1893,[6] New Westminster, BC.

They lived in Troy for several years, while Charles was working as a lawyer.

By 1880 he is living in Saint Louis, where he is listed variously as a lawyer and an editor.[7]

By 1890, we find Charles and his son, Charles Francis, both living near Vancouver, BC. Charles M. started a newspaper there, and apparently started going by the name "Mayo" (his middle name).[8]

Children of Charles M. and Laura A. Maxfield Whitney:

i. Charles Francis Whitney, b. ca. 1871, St. Louis, MO; d. Apr 1931, Miami, FL.
