Family:Whitney, Charles Mayo (1833-1900)

Charles M. Whitney was born in 1833 or 1834 in MA.^1,2 He died on 17 Mar 1900 in Vancouver, British Columbia.³ He was probably the son of Jacob and Sally Whitney.

He married Laura Acenath Maxfield^1,2 in 1859 or 1860.²

Laura was born Sept. 16,1836 in Chester, VT.^4,5 She died on 22 Dec 1893⁴ in New Westminster, British Columbia.

They lived in Troy for several years, while Charles was working as a lawyer.

By 1880 he is living in Saint Louis, where he is listed variously as a lawyer and an editor.¹

By 1890, we find Charles and his son, Charles Francis, both living near Vancouver, British Columbia. Charles M. started a newspaper there, and apparently started going by the name "Mayo" (his middle name)

He died on 17 Mar 1900 in Vancouver, BC.³
