Daniel5 Whitney (Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Richard and Hannah (Whitcomb) Whitney, was born 13 Feb 1720, Stow, MA,[1] and died 30 Sep 1782, Stow, MA, aged 62 years 7 months 4 days.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 9 Nov 1744, Lancaster, MA, for him "of Stow" and Dorothy Goss "of Lancaster".[3] Marriage intentions were published 11 Nov 1744, Stow, MA, for him and Dorothy Goss "of Lancaster".[4] She was born circa 1723, possibly Lancaster, MA, and died 11 Oct 1813, Stow, MA.[5]

He left a will on 3 Aug 1782 Stow, Middlesex, MA; of Stow, husbandman; wife Dolly; three daughters Catharine, Susanna and Mary, under age; daughter Hannah Witherbee; heirs of son John Whitney, late of Lincoln, deceased; daughter Dorothy Putnam of Stow; son Ephraim Whitne of Ashby, Worcester Co.; son Silas Whitney of Stow, daughter Elizabeth Park of Lincoln; and son Daniel Whitney, executor; witnesses Abraham Whitney, Mercy Whitney and Jonathan Newell. He wrote a codicil on 23 Apr 1782 at Stow, MA; witnesses Jonathan Newell, Jonathan Farnsworth, and Dorothy Gates.

On 9 Oct 1782, Stow, MA, an order to formalize the agreement of heirs was made, listing them as: Dorothy Whitney, widow; Daniel Whitney; Phineas Wetherbee of Acton, husbandman; Hannah Wetherbee; Abraham Whitney of Stow, as guardian of Mary, Jonathan, and Sarah Whitney, children of John Whitney, late of Lincoln, deceased, husbandman, and also as guardian of Catharine, Susannah, and Mary Whitney; Ephraim Whitney of Ashburnham, yeoman; Silas Whitney of Stow, yeoman; Nathan Putnam and Dorothy his wife; Eleazer Parks of Lincoln, yeoman, and Elizabeth his wife; signed by all 14 Oct 1782. On 4 May 1783, Stow, MA, his inventory was taken by Samuel Patch, William Whetcomb, and John Patch.
