Daniel Edward⁸ Whitney (Jeremiah⁷, Jeremiah⁶, Hezekiah⁵, Hezekiah⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of Jeremiah⁷ and Catharine (Palmer) Whitney, was born 28 Feb 1845, Barre, NY, died 7 Jan 1904. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Independence, IA.^[1]

He married, 1 Feb 1874, First Methodist Episcopal Church, Independence, IA, Celia Electa Sparling,^[2] daughter of Henry and Lavina (Luckey) Sparling. She was born Sep 1853, Buchanan Co., Iowa, and died 18 May 1935, MN, aged 81 years.^[3] She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Independence, IA.^[4]

A farmer, was living at Independence, IA, unmarried, in 1874.
