Daniel Leland9 Whitney (Lyman8, James7, John6, James5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Lyman8 and Mary (Leland) Whitney, was born 20 Nov 1845, Sherborn, MA,[1] and died after 1920.

He married firstly, 14 Dec 1872, Ashland, MA, Abby9 (Whitney) Barrett, daughter of Warren8 and Ann E. (Watson) Whitney.[2] They were fourth cousins. She was born 11 Apr 1846, Sherborn, MA,[3] and died 15 Apr 1889, Sherborn, MA, aged 43 years 3 days, of uraemic poisoning.[4] She had married firstly, 31 Mar 1869, Ashland, MA, Ambrose Barrett of Charlestown, MA, son of Benjamin and Nancy (Marshall) Barrett, as his second wife, born 12 Aug 1837, Townsend, MA,[5] and died 18 Feb 1871, Boston, MA.

He married secondly, 2 Feb 1898, Sherborn, MA, Clara Lillis Leland, daughter of James H. and Justina M. (Freeman) Leland.[6] She was born 5 Apr 1856, Sherborn, MA, and died after 1920.

He resided South Framingham and Sherborn, MA.

Nora Este Whitney, b. 10 Jan 1878, Sherborn MA;[10] m.(1) 20 Oct 1900, Sherborn, MA (also recorded in Dover, MA), Thomas McGill, b. ca. 1870, Dover, MA, son of Thomas and Jane (Smilie) McGill;[11] m.(2) 9 Mar 1909, Sherborn, MA (recorded in Medford, MA), William Gates Cummings, b. ca. 1865, Lebanon, NH, son of Joseph and Rebecca (Gates) Cummings.[12]
