Desire5 Whitney (Jonas4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), daughter of Jonas4 and Sarah (Perry) Whitney, was born 31 Oct 1749, Roxbury, MA,[1] and died 23 Jun 1778, Orange, MA.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 18 Feb 1769, Dedham, MA, for her "of Roxbury" and Edward Ward "of Dedham".[3] She married, 9 Mar 1769, Roxbury, MA, Edward Ward,[4] son of Timothy and Margaret (Woodward) Ward. He was born 12 Jan 1744, Newton, MA, and died 2 Sep 1817, Orange, MA. He married secondly, 26 Nov 1778, Athol, MA, Dolly Twitchell. She died 8 Feb 1842, Orange, MA, aged 83 years.

Children of Edward and Desire5 (Whitney) Ward, all born Newton, MA:

i. Amos Ward, b. 24 Nov 1769, also recorded at Dedham, MA; d. 21 Aug 1840, Orange, MA; m. 5 Dec 1795, Warwick, MA, Sally Burnett, dau. of William T. and Lucy (Gleason) Burnett. She was b. 2 May 1772, Warwick, MA, d. 6 Mar 1833, and was buried Orange Center Cemetery, North Orange, MA.
ii. Sarah Ward, b. 7 Oct 1771; bapt. 14 Oct 1771, Dedham, MA. Since another daughter was named Sarah, she apparently died young.
iii. Molly Ward, b. 1773.

iv. Sarah Ward, b. 26 Jun 1780; m. Calvin Mayo of Orange, MA.
v. Nathan Ward, b. 28 Mar 1782; m. Clarissa Albee.

vii. Susan Ward, b. 2 Feb 1787.
viii. Rhoda Ward, b. 28 Oct 1788.
ix. Jonas Ward, b. 24 Oct 1790.
x. Royal Ward, b. 25 Sep 1792.
xi. Edward Ward, b. 15 Aug 1797.
