Dexter7 Whitney (Asa), son of Asa and Joanna (Jackson) Whitney, was born 1802, NY, and died 1872. He is buried in South Street Cemetery, Triangle, NY.

He married, 23 Nov 1822, Eliza Day, daughter of Abraham and Anna (Brooks) Day. She was born 9 Mar 1806, Chester, MA, and died 1891, aged 84 years. She is buried in South Street Cemetery, Triangle, NY.

They resided Triangle, NY.

"His father, Dexter Whitney, was born in 1794, and died in 1867.[[sic] . . . Dexter Whitney married Eliza Day, a daughter of Abram Day, of Massachusetts, who was also an early settler, coming here about 1800, and whose wife was Anna Brooks, of Massachusetts.

"Dolphus S. Whitney is the sixth child and second son of twelve children born to his parents, six of whom are now living, and in this town of Triangle, namely: Aurelia, wife of Stephen Losee; Annette, wife of George P. Sibley; Dolphus S.; Joseph B.; Adelbert R.; and William D. The mother of these children died in 1891, in her eighty-fourth year, universally beloved and mourned by a large circle of friends. Dolphus was brought up on the farm, received a fair education, and was early accustomed to the habits of industry."[1]

vi. Dolphus S. Whitney, b. 1833, NY; m.(1) Laurancy Crandall; m.(2) Corphelia E. Day.

viii. Sophronia Whitney, b. ca. 1838, NY; m. 24 Mar 1855, Triangle, NY, Luther L. Olmstead, son of Luman and Laurancy (Taft) Olmstead, b. 31 Dec 1830, d. 11 Jan 1878.
ix. Dexter Whitney, b. ca. 1840, NY; died 10 Aug 1863, Yorktown, VA, of disease; mustered in 12 Aug 1862, Binghamton, NY, as Private, 16th Independent Battery, New York Light Artillery. Buried Yorktown Battlefield Cemetery. His mother received a pension for his service, #268054.
