Edwin8 Whitney (Dwelly7, Lemuel6, Josiah5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Dwelly7 and Emily (Derby) Whitney, was born 6 Jun 1836, Ashburnham, MA, and died between 1910 and 1920.

He married firstly, 27 Dec 1859, Ashburnham, MA,[1] or Bennington, VT, Eliza Jane Cross,[2] daughter of James Monrow and Esther (Nay) Cross. She was born about 28 Apr 1842, Great Falls or Rochester, NH, and died 27 Sep 1867, Ashby, MA, aged 25 years 4 months 29 days, of consumption.[3]

He married secondly, 16 Jun 1868, Ashby, MA, Elizabeth Elmyra Wheeler,[4] daughter of Oliver Lawrence and Mary (Whitney) Wheeler. She was born 2 Jul 1838, Ashby, MA, and died 13 Jul 1887, aged 49 years 11 months 11 days, of tubercular phthisis.[5]

He married thirdly, 7 Dec 1891, Ashby, MA, H. Eliza Hadley, daughter of Ethan and Betsey (Persons) Hadley.[6] She was born about July 1843, Peterborough, NH, and died after 1920.

He resided Ashby, MA.

i. Frederick L.9 Whitney, b. 20 Dec 1861, Ashby, MA;[7] m.(1) Laura E. Curtis; m.(2) Alta B. C. Bowen.
ii. Charles Oren Whitney, b. 7 Jun 1866, Ashby, MA;[8] d. 14 Feb 1867, Ashby, MA, aged 8 months 8 days, of consumption.[9]

Edwin8 and Elizabeth F. (Wheeler) Whitney had no children.

Edwin8 and H. Elizabeth (Hadley) Whitney had no children.

Notes

Confusingly, there was another contemporary Edwin Dean Whitney (1833-1920) who married, 6 Jan 1860, Eliza Jane Brown, and resided in Winchendon, MA, Providence, RI, and Medford and Revere, MA.
