Ellis Brooks⁹ Whitney (Jonathan Wallace⁸, Samuel⁷, Asa⁶, Levi⁵, Daniel⁴, Jonathan³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Jonathan Wallace⁸ and Mary A. (Brooks) Whitney, was born 2 Jun 1848, Winchester or Woburn, MA.^[1]

He married firstly, 11 Nov 1872, Brooklyn, NY, Addie A. Rhodes. She was born 25 Feb 1853, and died 18 May 1879.

He married secondly, 13 Oct 1881, Boston, MA, Elvira A. (Leach) Ayer, both of Providence, R.I., daughter of Elihu and Sarah L. (Clarke/Clapp) Leach.^[2] She was born 23 Feb 1847, Raynham, MA. She had married firstly, 18 Jan 1875, Boston, MA, William H. Ayer, both of Providence, R.I.^[3] She married thirdly, 29 Aug 1903, Taunton, MA, Lucius Marshall Butler, as his third wife, b. ca. 1838, Hinsdale, NH, son of Marshall and Luthera (Hubbard) Butler.^[4]

He resided Providence, RI.
