Family:Whitney, Ephraim (s1775-a1840)
Ephraim Whitney, parentage unknown, was born between 1770 and 1780, and died after 1840, probably Potter Co., PA.
He married, before 1801, ----- -----, of whom nothing is known.
Where in New York he lived prior to his first appearance in Potter Co., PA, is unknown.
Children of Ephraim and ----- (-----) Whitney, conjectural, and probably incomplete:
i. (poss.) Amasa Whitney, b. ca. 1801, NY; m. Isabella Courtright.
There was another contemporary Ephraim6 Whitney who should not be confused with this man. That man lived in Sherburne, Chenango Co., NY, while this one was living in Potter Co., PA, in both 1830 and 1840.
One Jacob Whitney who was living alone in Hebron, Potter Co., PA, in 1840, may have been a younger brother.
There was an otherwise-unidentified "Epraim" Whitney over 45 in 1820 living in Salisbury, Herkimer Co., NY, with a possible brother Ebenezer Whitney, also over 45.
