Esther5 Whitney (Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), daughter of Richard4 and Esther (Clark) Whitney, was born 20 Oct 1748, Ridgefield, CT,[1] and died Champion, NY.

She married, 29 Jun 1771, Ridgefield, CT, Jeremiah Chase.[2] He died Paris, NY. He was buried in Paris, NY.

They were early settlers in Paris, Oneida Co., NY, living near Sauquoit. The time of their settlement is not known, but in 1797, they had been there for several years. He died in Paris, and was buried there. She moved, perhaps before 1810, to Champion, Jefferson Co., NY, and there died, at the house of her son, Lewis Chase.

Children of Jeremiah and Esther5 (Whitney) Chase:

i. Esther Chase, b. CT; m.(1) ----- Saxton, and with him settled in Paris, NY, where he was accidentally drowned about 1796. She was living there, a widow, in 1797. She m.(2) Enos Knight, a blacksmith, of Utica, NY; and died at Paris, and was buried there. He m.(2) Louisa Chase, a niece of his first wife.
ii. Jeremiah Chase, b. CT; m. Rhoda Barker, dau. of "Old Esquire Barker, a Quaker, of Champion," NY; a musician. They settled in Champion, thence moved to Lewis Co., NY, near Boonville, Oneida Co., NY, and there died.
iii. Seth Chase, b. -----.
iv. Richard Chase, b. -----; d. ca. Jun 1806, Paris, NY; m. Paris, NY, Chloe Finney, b. 12 Aug 1785, d. 23 Nov 1842, Flint, MI, aged 57 years 3 months 11 days, dau. of Sylvester and Rebecca (Rice) Finney, of Paris; a farmer. She m.(2) Nathaniel Curtis.
v. Patty Chase, b. 9 Aug 1777; m. 16 Dec 1804, Paris, NY, John Whitney, q.v.
vi. Clark Chase, b. -----; m. Paris, NY, Sophia Tyler, dau. of Eliphaz Tyler; settled in Marshall, NY, where, in Oct or Nov 1852, he was accidentally killed by falling down the cellar-stairs of his house. He had no children. He lived and died near Sauquoit Village, and was buried in Sauquoit Cemetery.
vii. Joshua Chase, b. b. Paris, NY; kept a tavern in Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY, and died there, unmarried.
viii. Lewis Chase, b. Paris, NY; m. Esther Crook; a stone-mason. They dwelt in Champion, NY; returned to Paris; and from there moved to a town near Syracuse; and died without children.
