He married, 8 Dec 1860, Florence, OH, Fanny Maria Shoff, daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Hayes) Shoff. She was born 7 Dec 1841, Florence, OH, and died after 1880.

He resided Florence, OH.

Phoenix says the following:

"Frederick Augustus Whitney, b. in Bridgewater, Conn., 23 Jan. 1837; married in Florence, Ohio, 8 Dec. 1860, Fanny Maria Shoff, who was born at Florence, 7 Dec. 1841, dau. of Jacob and Sarah (Hayes) Shoff. They settled at Birmingham, in Florence, and were living there in 1873."
