George Augustus Whitney (George H., Frederick), son of George H. and Mary Jane (Gilman) Whitney, was born 20 Jul 1853, Danvers, MA,[1] or Easton, MA, or Peabody, MA, or Boston, MA, and died 23 Dec 1905, Stoughton, MA, aged 52 years 4 months 23 days, of lobar pneumonia.[2] He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton, MA.[3]

He married, 11 Oct 1877, Stoughton, MA, Alice E. "Nellie C." "Ellen C." Robinson, daughter of David and Clarissa C. (-----) Robinson.[4] She was born about 1852, Epsom, NH, or Pembroke, MA, or Lynn, MA.

ii. Harry L. Whitney, b. ca. Feb 1884, Plaistow, NH; d. 2 Sep 1892, Stoughton, MA, aged 8 years 7 months, of scarlet fever;[7] bur. Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton, MA.[8]
iii. Ralph Augustus Whitney, b. 13 Jun 1886, Stoughton, MA.[9]
iv. Gertrude May Whitney, b. 28 Dec 1890, Stoughton, MA;[10] m. 7 Aug 1909, Stoughton, MA, Edgar Stewart Durkee, b. ca. 1881, Norwich, CT, son of Edgar A. and Ida Jane (Staples) Durkee.[11]
v. Nellie I. Whitney, b. Jun 1899, MA.
