George Benjamin Whitney (Martin Luther, John), son of Martin Luther and Mary L. (Pollard) Whitney, was born 16 Oct 1844, Lowell, MA [given name omitted],[1] and died 11 Dec 1895, Lowell, MA, aged 51 years 1 month, of pleuro pneumonia.[2]

He married firstly, 15 Sep 1866, Lowell, MA, Susan Elizabeth Webster, daughter of Eliphalet and Harriet (Fox) Webster.[3] She was born about, Dracut, MA, and died 11 or 18 Jun 1871, Dracut, MA, aged 24 years 1 month 26 days, of consumption.[4]

He "of Dracut" married secondly, 22 Nov 1875, Lowell, MA (also recorded Dracut, MA), Mary Lucinia Webster, daughter of Eliphalet and Harriet (Fox) Webster. She was born 19 Jan 1940, Dracut or Tyngsborough, MA,[5] and died 10 Jun 1904, Lowell, MA, aged 64 years 4 months 22 days, of diabetes.[6] She was buried in Edson Cemetery, Lowell, MA.

ii. Georgianna Elizabeth Whitney, b. 27 Sep 1869, Dracut, MA;[9] d. 11 Dec 1944, aged 75 years; "Georgie E." m. 29 Dec 1897, Lowell, MA, William Lowell Littlehale, b. ca. 1873, Tyngsborough, MA, son of Peter and Lucy (Lawrence) Littlehale,[10] d. 4 Feb 1952.
iii. Susan Abba Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1871, Dracut, MA;[11] d. 2 Oct 1888, Lowell, MA, aged 17 years 4 months, of consumption.[12]

NOTE: Sarah "Whitney" was apparently Sarah Jane Webster, b. 17 Jun 1836, Dracut, MA, who was a maternal aunt to Harriet L. Whitney. Harriet had no paternal aunt. "Hannah" Whitney was apparently Mary Lucinia (Webster) Whitney, Harriet's mother and Sarah Jane Webster's sister.
