George Freeman8 Whitney (Freeman7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Freeman7 and Mary S. (Gray) Whitney, was born 12 Jan 1826 in Harrison, ME, and died after 1900.

He married, 16 Nov 1848, Mary A. Bailey, of Harrison, ME,[1] daughter of James P. and Caroline (Hilton) Bailey. She was born 17 Oct 1822, Westbrook, ME, and died 7 Mar 1895, aged 72 years 4 months 18 days, of gastritus inanition (chronic).[2]

He resides on the farm first settled by his great-grandfather, Moses; resided Harrison, ME in the censuses of 1850 through 1900. He was a mill worker in a wire factory.

He has been a farmer in Harrison for many years. In his earlier life, he worked at wire making business in Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut, about 25 years.

b. Edna Warren Roberts, b. 23 Feb 1878; m. 16 Apr 1903, George L. Fickett of Portland, city electrician of the city.
