George H.8 Whitney (Alpheus7, Hananiah6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Alpheus7 and Abigail (?Case?) Whitney, was born about 29 Mar 1827, Waltham, MA, and died 20 Apr 1874, Dana, MA, aged 47 years 21 days, of lung fever, farmer.[1]

He married, 2 Jun 1861, Dana, MA, Phila R. Fellows, both of Dana, daughter of John and Mary (-----) Fellows.[2] She was born about 19 Sep 1837, Shutesbury or Hardwick, MA, and died 22 May 1883, Dana, MA, aged 45 years 8 months 3 days, of consumption.[3]

In 1862 he was a private in the army.

i. Emma Jane Fellows, b. 16 Apr 1858, Hardwick, MA;[4] she adopted the surname Whitney after her mother's marriage; d. 6 Feb 1897, Dana, MA, aged 39 years 10 months 8 days, of brain fever;[5] m. 10 Aug 1874, Dana, MA, Frank E. Stevens, b. ca. 1852, Dana, MA, son of James and Martha (-----) Stevens.[6]

i. Ella Lorinda9 Whitney, b. 21 Jul 1862, Dana, MA;[7] "Ella W." m. 22 Dec 1882, Petersham, MA, or 2 Dec 1882, Phillipston, MA, Horace N. Ball, b. ca. 1860, Dana, MA, son of Leander and Margret (Knapp) Ball.[8]
ii. Eva Abbie Whitney, b. 16 Jul 1865, Barre, MA,[9] or North Dana, MA; "of Holden" m. 3 Jul 1888, Rutland (also recorded at North Brookfield and Holden), MA, Louis E. Snow, b. ca. 1864, West Brookfield, MA, son of Joseph and Charlotte (Sampson) Snow.[10]
