George J.8 Whitney (Jason W.7, Joshua6, Joshua5, Joshua4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jason W.7 and Emily (Muzzy) Whitney, was born 22 May 1845, Medway, MA,[1] and died 30 Dec 1873, Brookfield, MA, aged 28 years 7 months 26 days, of typhoid fever.[2]

He married, 11 Nov 1862, Medway, MA, Carrie Maria Pond, daughter of Justin Eli and Polly Maria (Thurber) Pond.[3] She was born about 22 Sep 1844, Milford, MA, and died 9 Sep 1883, Medway, MA, aged 28 years 11 months 17 days, of Potts disease of spine.[4] She married secondly, 20 Sep 1876, Medway, MA, Clarence Adelbert Hixon.[5]

ii. Henry Newman Whitney, b. 10 Nov 1867, Medway, MA;[7] "Harry" m.(1) 7 Sep 1892, Attleborough, MA, Mary J. O'Leary, b. ca. 1872, Taunton, dau. of John and Bridget (-----) O'Leary;[8] m.(2) 3 Jul 1909, North Attleborough, MA, Edith F. Hodde, b. ca. 1886, Attleborough, MA, dau. of John and Augusta (Bunker) Hodde.[9] Children:
a. George B.10 Whitney, b. ca. Oct 1892, Taunton, MA;[10] d. 1 Aug 1893, Medway, MA, aged 10 months, of cholera infantum.[11]

Apparently the census taker conflated the records. The name of the step-granddaughter Laura was combined with the data for the daughter-in-law Carrie.
