Family:Whitney, George J. (1845-1873)

George J.⁸ Whitney (Jason W.⁷, Joshua⁶, Joshua⁵, Joshua⁴, Joshua³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Jason W.⁷ and Emily (Muzzy) Whitney, was born 22 May 1845, Medway, MA,^[1] and died 30 Dec 1873, Brookfield, MA, aged 28 years 7 months 26 days, of typhoid fever.^[2]

He married, 11 Nov 1862, Medway, MA, Carrie Maria Pond, daughter of Justin Eli and Polly Maria (Thurber) Pond.^[3] She was born about 22 Sep 1844, Milford, MA, and died 9 Sep 1883, Medway, MA, aged 28 years 11 months 17 days, of Potts disease of spine.^[4] She married secondly, 20 Sep 1876, Medway, MA, Clarence Adelbert Hixon.^[5]

Apparently the census taker conflated the records. The name of the step-granddaughter Laura was combined with the data for the daughter-in-law Carrie.
