George M.9 Whitney (George Leavitt8, Hananiah7, Hananiah6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of George Leavitt8 and Harriet Atwood (Mears) Whitney, was born 7 Aug 1846, Springfield, MA,[1] and died after 1875.

He married firstly, 7 Jul 1866, Needham, MA, Cynthia Emerson, daughter of Henry F. and Lucretia (-----) Emerson.[2] She was born about 1847, Boston, MA.

He married secondly, 12 Apr 1875, Boston, MA, Sarah L. Johnson, dau. of James and Sarah (-----) Johnson.[3] She was born about 1853, Lynn, MA.

Children of George M.9 Whitney:

i. Harriet B.10 Whitney, b. ca. 1868, Boston, MA. or Dorchester, MA; d. 25 Apr 1897, Malden, MA, aged 27 years 8 months 29 days, of typhoid fever;[4] m. 6 Sep 1893, Lynn, MA, Dr. George F. Deal, b. ca. 1871, Boston, MA, son of Edward F. and Almira J. (-----) Deal.[5]
