George S.8 Whitney (George Clinton7, Daniel6, Joshua5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of George Clinton7 and Emeline Bond (LaCroix) Whitney, was born 19 Oct 1833, Readfield, ME,[1] and died 1922, Phillips, ME.

He "of Wayne" married, 31 Oct 1864, Farmington, ME, Lucy Ann Sweetser "of Phillips",[2] daughter of Joseph and Lucy Ann (Shaw) Sweetser of Livermore, ME. She was born Dec 1843, ME, and died 1903, Phillips, ME.

All of this family are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Phillips, ME.

ii. Edson Burton Whitney, b. 15 Apr 1870, Phillips, ME; d. 3 Dec 1914, Northampton, MA, aged 44 years; unmarried; of Boston, MA, 1900, and Northampton, MA, 1910. He may be the same as Edding Whitney (s1867-a1900), q.v.
iii. Wilson Clark Whitney, b. 1873, Phillips, ME; d. 1914; m. 22 Dec 1908, Somerville, MA, Jennie Evelyn (Higgins) Elliott, b. 1868, St. John, NB, d. 1924, dau. of William and Jennie (Morrison) Higgins;[3] of Boston, MA, 1900.
iv. Josephine F. Whitney, b. ca. 1876, Phillips, ME; d. after 1930; m. 24 Jul 1903, Phillips, ME, Lionel T. Allen; res. Strong, ME.
v. Georgia W. Whitney, b. 1880, Phillips, ME; d. 1936; m. Fred Masterman.
vi. Celia C. Whitney, b. 1882, Phillips, ME; d. 1949; m. E. Proctor Smith.
