George T. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born circa 1810, NY, and died after 1860.

He married, firstly, an unknown woman. She apparently died between 1841 and 1848.

He married, secondly, 1 Apr 1848, Harrodsburg, KY, Tabitha (Lamme) Boyle, daughter of ----- and Jane (Tilford) Lamme. She was born circa 1821, KY, and died after 1856. She had previously been married to John Weir Boyle, son of Chief Justice Boyle. They had resided in Mercer Co., KY. They had children Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Boyle, b. 5 Nov 1843; John Weir Boyle, b. Mar 1846, d. 12 Aug 1864.

He was a merchant. He was also listed as an early postmaster of Harrodsburg, KY.^[1]

iv.	Amanda Tilford Whitney, b. 17 Dec 1851, KY; m. 16 Mar 1869, Fayette Co., KY, Eugene A. Cassell, b. 17 Apr 1847, d. 5 Jan 1900. Children: a. Eugenia Whitney Cassell, b. 10 Sep 1871. b. Anna Bell Cassell, b. 17 Dec 1878. c. Terah Dunlap Cassell, b. 3 Apr 1886. d. Whitney Weir Cassell, b. 29 Jul 1894..
