Gilbert H.8 Whitney (Lewis Jones7, Jabez6, Jacob5, Jonas4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Lewis Jones7 and Ruth (Howard) Whitney, was born about 20 Jun 1824, Athol, MA,[1] and died 29 Nov 1904, Athol, MA, aged 80 years 5 months 9 days.[2]
He married firstly, Melinda L./C. -----. She was born 1826, Highgate, VT,[3] and died 25 Aug 1856, Athol, MA, aged 30 years, of consumption.[4]
He married secondly, 29 Apr 1857, Athol, MA, Helen Mar Woods, daughter of Moses and Mary (Stratton) Woods.[5] She was born 15 Apr 1827, Enfield, MA,[6] and died 13 Jan 1909, Athol, MA, aged 81 years 8 months 29 days, of tubercular peritonitis.[7]
They lived in Highgate, VT, through 1853, and after that in Athol, MA.
He was a carpenter and sash maker.
