Hepzibah4 Whitney (Richard3, Richard2, John1), daughter of Richard3 and Elizabeth (Sawtell) Whitney, was born 28 Feb 1709, Harvard, MA,[1] or born between 28 Feb 1710 and 28 Feb 1711, Stow, MA (calculated from age on guardianship bond), and died 25 Oct 1767, Harvard, MA.

She "of Harvard" married, 12 Oct 1732 at Lancaster, MA, Seth Sawyer,[2] son of Caleb and Sarah (Houghton) Sawyer. He was born 7 Jan 1705, Lancaster, MA, and baptized on 31 Oct 1708, Lancaster, MA, and died 29 May 1768, Lancaster, MA. He had married firstly, 11 Jan 1726/7, Lancaster, MA, Dinah Farrar. She was born about 1704, and died 25 Oct 1727, aged 23 years.

On 29 Feb 1723/4, Stow, MA, a guardian bond was posted by Richard Taylor of Sudbury, husbandman, and Richard Whitney of Stow, as surety, as guardian of Ruhamah Whitney, in her 18th year, and Hephzibah Whitney, in her 13th year.

Pierce says the following:[3]

HEPZIBAH [WHITNEY], b. in 1710; m. Oct. 12, 1732, Seth SAWYER, of Lancaster. He was bap. in Lancaster, Oct. 31, 1708; son of Caleb; m. first Jan. 11, 1726-7, Dinah FARRAR. She d. Oct. 25, 1727, ae. 23. He then m. Hepzibah, of Harvard; was united by Rev. John Prentice.

Children of Seth and Hepzibah4 (Whitney) Sawyer, all born Harvard, MA:

i. John Sawyer, b. 5 May 1734; m. Elizabeth Gates.
ii. Caleb Sawyer, b. 24 Jul 1737; m.(1) Relief Fairbank; m.(2) Sarah Patch.
iii. Dinah Sawyer, b. 11 Apr 1739; m. Nathan Ager.
iv. Betty Sawyer, b. 15 Nov 1741; m. Stephen Wilder.
v. Phinehas Sawyer, b. 25 Jul 1746; m. Hannah Whitcomb.
