Hiram Ransom⁹ Whitney (Joel⁸, Bartholomew⁷, Silas⁶, David⁵, Benjamin⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), son of Joel⁸ and Lucy Willard (Sheldon) Whitney, was born 31 Mar 1836, Sheldon, VT, and died 4 May 1868.

He married, 8 Dec 1859, Sheldon, VT, Martha J. Foster, daughter of H. Hampton and Eliza (-----) Foster.^[1] She was born about 1839, VT, and died after 1880.
