James7 Whitney (James6, Ezekiel5, James4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of James6 and Sarah (Trumpbour) Whitney, was born 1 Oct 1818, Saugerties, NY, and died after 1880.

He married, 20 Jun 1840, Saugerties, NY, Christina Schoonmaker, daughter of George and Jane (Van Louven) Schoonmaker. She was born 29 Sep 1817, Catskill, NY, and died after 1880.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a farmer . . . . He was toll-collector at the Jersey City ferry from 1851 to 1874, and lived in Jersey City, N.J. They were dwelling at Catskill in Ap. 1875."

i. Margaret Helen8 Whitney, b. 29 Apr 1842, Catskill, NY; m.(1) ----- -----; m.(2) Albert Magee. They were living at Catskill, NY, in Apr 1875.
ii. James B. Whitney, b. 28 Jan 1846, Coxsackie, NY; lived with his parents, unmarried, in 1880.
iii. Henry Joseph Whitney, b. 5 May 1849, Catskill, NY; d. after 1900; m. Jennie -----.
iv. Christina Whitney, b. 16 Mar 1858, Jersey City, NJ; and lived with her parents, unmarried, in 1880.
v. Sarah Jane Whitney, b. 7 Apr 1859, Jersey City, NY; died 14 Jul 1859, Jersey City, NJ, of inflamation of the bowels[1]. She was buried in New York Bay Cemetery.
