James A.8 Whitney (Thomas R.7, Thomas Grace6, Samuel5, Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1, son of Thomas R.7 and Harriett (Waite) Whitney, was born 11 Jan 1840, Gardiner, ME, and died 18 Sep 1862, Wenham, MA [recorded Manchester, MA], aged 22 years 7 months 9 days, killed by accident on the Eastern Railroad.[1]

He married 2 Apr 1861, Beverly, MA, or Manchester, MA, Elisa A. Sanborn, daughter of Nathaniel P. and Sophia (Earl) Sanborn.[2] She was born 26 Feb 1843, Manchester, MA, and died 29 Apr 1897, Hamilton, MA.

Elisa married secondly, 20 Jan 1866, Manchester, MA, Thomas A. Morris, son of Richard and Jane (Stewart) Morris.[3] He was born about 1839, Halifax, NS.
