James W.8 Whitney (Ezra7, John6, James5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Ezra7 and Sarah Fuller (Slack) Whitney, was born Mar 1834, Perry, ME, and died 2 Nov 1930, Soldiers' Home, Los Angeles, CA. He was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA.[1]

He married, 26 Dec 1860, St. Stephen, NB, Susan Wright Newell, daughter of E. F. and Susan (Sprague) Newell. She was born Jul 1835, ME, and died 31 Dec 1928, Los Angeles, CA.[2] She was buried in Inglewood Cemetery.

In the Civil War he served in the 6th Battery, 1st Maine Light Artillery.
