Jeremiah6 Whitney ([prob.]John5, [poss.] Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), probably son of John5 and Joanna (Foy) Whitney, was born 17 Apr 1766, as recorded in Weld, ME, but actual location may be elsewhere, possibly Greene, ME, and died after 1840, said 1846, Weld, ME.

He married, Nov 1790 or 17 Oct 1790, Turner, ME, Lydia Cole, by Rev. John Strickland, daughter of Job and Sarah (Reaves) Cole.[1] She was born 7 Jun 1766, as recorded in Weld, ME, but actual location may be elsewhere, said North Yarmouth, ME, and died said 1821, Weld, ME.

ii. Jeremiah Whitney, Jr., b. 6 Nov 1793, possibly Greene, ME; m. Mary Winter.
iii. Lydia Whitney, b. 30 Dec 1795, possibly Greene, ME; d. 12 Feb 1851; m. 12 Oct 1814, Weld, ME, Samuel White, b. 14 Jul 1789, d. 21 Jan 1867.
iv. John Whitney, b. 9 Apr 1799, possibly Greene, ME; m. Polly Temple.
v. Jacob Ames Whitney, b. 9 Feb 1802, possibly Greene, ME; m. Rhoda Dale Hutchinson.
vi. Rhoda Whitney, b. 21 Jun 1804, possibly Greene, ME.
vii. Chuszen Whitney (female), b. 11 Mar 1806, possibly Greene, ME; Chuszen is actually Susannah Whitney; "Miss" m. 28 Jan 1834, Weld, ME, "Mr." William Francis "of Carthage".[2]
viii. Benjamin Whitney, b. 18 Dec 1810, Weld, ME; m. Mary A. Cole.

  • 1820, Weld, Oxford Co., ME: Jeremiah Whitney, 1 male over 45, 2 males 18-25, 1 male 0-9, 1 female over 45, 1 female 26-44, and 1 female 10-15; 3 engaged in agriculture.
  • 1830, Weld, Oxford Co., ME: Jeremiah Whitney, 1 male 60-69, 1 male 15-19, 1 female 60-69, 1 female 30-39, 2 females 20-29.
  • 1840, Weld, Franklin Co., ME: Jacob Whitney, 1 male 70-79, 1 male 30-39, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 0-4, 1 female 70-79, 2 females 20-29, and 1 female 10-14; 3 engaged in agriculture. This is son Jacob, aged 30-39, and his father Jeremiah seems to be the male aged 70-79 in the household.
