John C.7 Whitney (Jeremiah6, (poss.) John5, (poss.) Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jeremiah6 and Lydia (Cole) Whitney, was born 9 Apr 1799, recorded at Weld, Franklin Co., ME, but probably Lewiston [1], and died Jul 1859, Weld, Franklin Co., ME.[2]

He married, 5 Mar 1822, Dixfield, Oxford Co., ME, Polly Temple of Weld. She was born about 1800, and died after 1850.

Children of John C.7 and Polly (Temple) Whitney, possibly incomplete:

i. Sarah8 Whitney, b. 19 April 1823, ME; d. 11 Feb. 1863; m. Cassander Brown.[3]
ii. (child) Whitney, b. say 1826.
iii. Abigail Whitney, b. ca. 1830, ME; said m. ca. 1851, Alfred Marshall Berry.
iv. Lydia Whitney, b. ca. 1833, ME. No further record found.
v. John C. Whitney, b. ca. 1835, Carthage, ME; m. Matilda J. Ireland on 14 Sep 1862 at Mattawamkeag, Penobscot Co., Maine; d. 24 Jul 1865, Montgomery, Alabama. Served several enlistments in the Civil War. Note that he was not the John Whitney who m. Penelope Ward.
vi. Daniel A. Whitney, b. ca. 7 Sep 1839; m.(1) Mary Jane White; m.(2) Christiana Billington Goding.
vii. Amasa Whitney, b. 5 Apr 1840, ME; m. Salva White Phinney.

Notes

Because of her age, it seems that Locina Whitney (below) would NOT be a daughter of this couple. She was living with Sarah (Whitney) Brown and her husband Cassander Brown in 1860. She is not found in 1870.
