John Monroe8 Whitney (George Washington7, Joseph6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of George Washington7 and Maria Arvilla (Tenney) Whitney, was born 3 Jul 1870, Hubbardston, MA, and died before 3 Aug 1930, Worcester, MA.

He married, 12 Nov 1892, Athol, MA, Mary J. Cummings, daughter of Jasher R. and Mary J. (-----) Cummings.[1] She was born Apr 1878, Swanzey, NH, and died after 1900.

i. Rufus9 Whitney, b. 15 May 1899, Athol, MA;[2] d. 30 Jun 1899, Athol, MA, aged 2 months, of infantile convulsions.[3]

This appears to be John Monroe Whitney, who is not found elsewhere, despite his marital status of single, and the fact he was born in July, not April.
