John Taylor7 Whitney (Edward6, Nathan5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Edward6 and Mary (Furniss) Whitney, was born 1 Aug 1815, Madison, NY, and died after 1892.

He married, 16 Aug 1869, Syracuse, NY, by Rev. Addison Kellogg Strong, D.D., Congregational, of Syracuse, Mary Groves, daughter of John and Percy (Lilly) Groves, of Lebanon, NY. She was born 15 June 1819, Lebanon, NY, and died after 1892.

He was a merchant, then a book-keeper, and afterward a farmer. He dwelt in New York City from 15 Aug 1828 to Dec 1831; and settled, 14 May 1834, at Eaton, NY, where they were living, without children, in Apr 1874. He was postmaster at Eaton, from 1 Jul 1853 till 30 Sep 1861; and superintendent of the poor, for Madison County, for three years from 1 Jan 1854.

John Taylor7 and Mary (Groves) Whitney had no children, but apparently adopted one:
