Jonas4 Whitney (Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Eleazer3 and Dorothy (Ross) Whitney, was born 1 Jun 1708, Watertown, MA,[1] (sometimes reported as "James" although "Jonas" is correct), baptized 1 Jun 1708, Watertown, MA, and died 23 Dec 1792, Harvard, MA, aged 84 years.[2]

He married firstly, 8 May 1735, Roxbury, MA, Sarah Perry,[3] daughter of Isaac and Sarah (Hanchett) Perry. She was born 16 Feb 1718, Roxbury, MA, baptized 4 May 1718, Roxbury, MA, and "probably" died 24 Dec 1778, Newton, MA.

Intentions of marriage were published 8 Apr 1786, Harvard, MA, for him and Lydia Wetherbee "of Boxborough".[4] He "Jonah" "of Harvard" married secondly, 11 May 1786, Boxborough, MA, Lydia Witherbee.[5] It seems likely she was a widow, but nothing further is known of her.

He owned the covenant "aged about 15."

Sarah Whitney, wife of Jonas, was admitted to the church, 29 May 1771, Dedham, MA.[6]

Jonas4 and Lydia (Witherbee) Whitney had no children.
