Jonas Prescott⁷ Whitney (Josiah⁶, Josiah⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Josiah⁶ and Mary (Barrett) Whitney, was born 22 Sep 1793, Waltham, MA,^[1] was baptized the same day, and died 18 Aug 1879, Ashby, MA, aged 85 years 10 months, of old age.^[2]

He married firstly, 22 Feb 1815, Ashby, MA, Rebecca Piper.^[3] She was born 15 May 1797, and died 18 Jun 1838, Ashby, MA.^[4]

He "of Ashby" married secondly, 29 Aug 1839, Leominster, MA, Louisa Wheeler,^[5] daughter of Asa and Mary (-----) Wheeler. She was born 14 Apr 1804, Holden, MA, and died 1 Jun 1864, Fitchburg, MA, aged 60 years 1 month 17 days, of consumption.^[6]

He moved to Ashby, 1799.
