Lt. Joseph5 Whitney (John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of John4 and Sarah (Cutting) Whitney, was born 2 Oct 1719, Weston, MA,[1] was baptized 12 Jun 1720, Weston, MA, aged about 2 months [sic: should be 8 months--RLW],[2] and died 22 Feb 1790, Weston, MA, in 72nd year.[3]

Marriage intentions for him "of Weston" and Mary Child "of Waltham" were published 11 Mar 1743, Weston, MA.[4] He "of Weston" married, 3 Nov 1743, Waltham, MA, Mary Child "of Waltham",[5] daughter of Daniel and Beriah (Bemis) Child. She was born 10 Jun 1722, Watertown, MA, and died 3 Jun 1803, Weston, MA, in 82nd year.[6]

Joseph Whitney owned the covenant 21 Jun 1741, Weston, MA.[7] Joseph Whitney, son of John, was admitted a member of the church, 11 Oct 1741, Weston, MA.[8] Mary Whitney, wife of Joseph, was admitted a member of the church, 14 Apr 1745, Weston, MA.[9]

In 1771, he was taxed both in Weston and also in Waltham on 3 acres of meadow land, perhaps inherited from his wife's family.

He left a will dated 13 Oct 1788, Weston, MA: will of Joseph Whitney of Weston, gentleman; wife Mary, daughter Mary, wife of Amos Fiske of Weston; son Abijah Whitney, executor, witnesses Samuel Kendal, Saml. Fisk and Abigail Kendal.

On 10 Mar 1790, Weston, MA, his will was proved.
