Joseph Henry8 Whitney (Joseph7, Daniel6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Joseph7 and Susan7 (Whitney) Whitney, was born about 14 Sep 1822, Boston, MA,[1] and died 16 Mar 1896, Milton, MA, aged 73 years 6 months 2 days, of heart disease.[2]

He married firstly, 31 Mar 1856, Wells, ME, Rhoda Staples,[3] daughter of John and Lois (Littlefield) Staples. She was born about 18 Dec 1820, Wells, ME, and died 27 Oct 1872, Stow, MA, aged 51 years 10 months 9 days, of cancer.[4]

He married secondly, 17 Jun 1875, Boston, MA, Caroline W. Clay, daughter of Lovejoy and Cynthia (Page) Clay. She was born about 1840, Gilmanton, NH,[5] and died 28 Apr 1879, Milton, MA, aged 39 years 8 months 21 days, of scrofula.[6]

He married thirdly, 7 Mar 1887, Milton, MA, Sarah F. Lunt, daughter of John and Arethusa (Merrill) Lunt. She was born about 1837, Durham, ME,[7] and died after 1920.
