Joshua⁷ Whitney (Samuel⁶, Joseph⁵, Timothy⁴, John³, John², John¹), son of Samuel⁶ and Mary (Whitney) Whitney, was born 10 Jun 1784, and died 13 Feb 1860, Lawrenceville, NY. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lawrenceville, NY.

He "of Quebec" married, 27 Sep 1810, Littleton, MA, "Miss" Harriett Tuttle "of Littleton",^[1] daughter of William and Mary (Lawrence) Tuttle. She was born 11 Dec 1781, Littleton, MA.

Joshua Whitney Farlin, b. 16 Nov 1836; d. 6 Jun 1893; m. 5 Mar 1861, Amanda F. King, b. 3 Jun 1839. She resided 64 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. Mr. Farlin resided in Chicago for nearly forty years, and had long stood high among respected citizens. He was b. Warrenburg, NY, 1836, and was 57 years old at the time of his death. He came to Chicago as a boy of 19, and his entire life was that of a Christian gentleman. For the last twenty years he was engaged in the real estate business, and was a large buyer of suburban and city property. He laid out and subdivided the town of Maplewood, and conducted other large transactions which gave him a high standing in the business world. He was an active member of the Chicago Real Estate Board, and for years ably managed the Tuttle King Estate. His wife was the second daughter of Mr. King, and survives him. The philanthropic side of Mr. Farlin's nature was well developed. He omitted no opportunity to do good, and a large protion of his time in late years was taken up with the management of the affairs of poor widows, who looked upon him as their trusty friend He was one of Mr. Moody's principal supporters in his Chicago Avenue Church, and his religious work was marked by deep earnestness, liberality and untiring devotion. For years he was associated with the Young Men's Christian Association, and he took a deep interest in the work of the Chicago Bible Society. He was active in Railway Chapel matters, and has been the preident of the Free Dispensary from the date of its organization. Children: 1. Myron Whitney Farlin, b. 3 Nov 1876. 2. Susie F.
