Lemuel6 Whitney (Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Joseph5 and Anna (?Palmer?) Whitney, was born 15 Aug 1784, Warwick, MA, and died 13 Jul 1860, Foster, KY.

Marriage intentions were published 14 Aug 1804, Warwick, MA, for him "of Warwick" and Sally Pratt "of Athol".[1] He "of Warwick" married, 22 Dec 1805, Royalston, MA, Sally Pratt "of Athol".[2] She was born 19 Apr 1783, Oxford, MA, and died 14 Feb 1868, near Foster, KY.

He was born in Warwick, MA, where he resided for a short time after marriage. He then migrated westward, locating first at Lima, near Genesee Landing, in 1809. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, was at the battle of Queenstown, and was taken prisoner. In 1815 he located at a place in Ohio, where he remained a short time, going then to Charleston, Coles County, IL. He finally settled in Foster, KY, where he died. He resided Warwick and Oxford, MA, Lima, NY, Charleston, IL, and Foster, KY.

Burial of both Lemuel and Sarah is a Burkitt Cemetery, Bracken County, Kentuckey, Usa. Birth: Aug. 15, 1786 Death: Jul. 13, 1860

On the stone it says "Born at Warwick, Mass." Aged 73 years 10 months 28 days Same stone as Sarah Pratt Whitney

i. Diana7 Whitney, b. 1804, MA; d. 1820, Mechanicsburgh, OH.
ii. Malvina Whitney, b. 12 Sep 1806; m.(1) Dr. Wilson Dart. He d. two years after marriage and she then m.(2) Carlos Hilton Gould, of Henniker, NH. They were m. Neville, OH, lived there six years then moved to Cincinnati. He was owner of a cotton factory, had two children, son and daughter. The son, Charles W. Gould, was in the Confederate army; after that he went to California, was there six years, then died, Auditor of the Court. The daughter, Mary Dart, d. young.
iii. James Foster Whitney, b. 12 Sep 1808; m. Elizabeth S. Morton.
iv. Sophia Whitney, b. Oxford, MA; m. Mechanicsburgh, OH, Ludovicus Rudolph. He was b. Baltimore, moved to Mount Vernon, IN, where she d., leaving two small children, Charles and Mary, who d. soon after their mother.
v. Cynthia Whitney, b. 31 Dec 1812; m. 30 Jun 1830, Dr. W. Thomas; resided Foster, KY. He was b. 18 Jun 1826, VA; d. 16 Apr 1859.
Ch.: Foster, b. 21 Feb 1831, farmer; resided Dwight, KS: Theodore, b. 7 Jul 1833; Malinda, b. 3 Oct 1837; Clara, b. 11 Sep 1840; Sallie, b. 12 Jul 1842; Anabell, b. 13 Dec 1844; Sophia, b. 21 May 1846; Julian, b. 14 Oct 1848; Lemuel, b. 5 Jul 1852; all dead but the three boys.
vi. Sallie Whitney, b. Lima, NY; d. one week old.
